ACYF’s Month of Serving the Young widely carried out
The Month of Serving the Young were widely carried out in recent days to serve youths in general and the needy in particular. The program targeted college students, migrant young workers, urban community and rural juniors, helping them with practical matters, doing good things for them and tackling tough issues confronting them.
Chongqing Municipality raised 300,000 yuan for concentrated donations to ten communities, 20 migrant young workers, 30 poor families and 40 poor students. Community young friends were offered free medical consultations, massage, Spring Festival couplets and free haircut services.
Beijing Municipality provided material and return tickets to over 300 community youths and needy migrant young workers and organized free physical checkups for medical aid to over 100 migrant young workers on the construction sites of Olympic stadiums.
Nanjing unfolded a program of model youth units facilitating households and offering lunar New Year blessings, organizing voluntary service to poor college students, migrant workers families, community aid station-sheltered children and providing hearty services ranging from free haircuts, youth psychological health consultations, and 32 health tests, while presenting badminton, handwork raw materials and net cards to Project Hope’s aiding station-sheltered children at the same time.
The Sichuan provincial capital of Chengdu carried out a program of presenting the needy migrant young workers with five gifts, namely, cash donations, winter clothing, daily necessities and study and sports articles, focusing on poor urban families, the handicapped, the urban migrant workers, the poor students and children who were left behind in the Spring Festival period, helping them out with practical difficulties in lives, work and study.
The Xinzhu community of Qingxiu district in Nanning city, Guangxi pushed a month of serving youths as with warm feelings for youth to promote harmony and developed the program of model youth units collective voluntary service to a street, organizing coupling help to youths and presenting love kits to them. Statistics showed nearly 1000 model youth units at various levels entered into communities to serve the masses together with 12355 youth service desks.
