Background Information of Deng Zhonghan:
Deng Zhonghan is a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, deputy of National People's Congress, Vice President of All-China Youth Federation, Director of National Digital Multimedia Chip Technology Laboratory and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vimicro Corporation. He got his bachelor's degree for the University of Science and Technology of China. Graduating from University of California at Berkeley with a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, a M.S. degree in Economics and a M.S. degree in Physics, he becomes the first scholar who studied in science, engineering and commerce in the 130-year history of UC Berkeley.
In 1999, he gave up his successful career and better off life in the United States and went back to China. Later he founded Vimicro Electronics Company, which initiated the "China Starlight Chip Project". In the following ten years, he stuck to independent innovation and applied for over 2000 patents, some of which were major technological breakthroughs that could lead to large-scale industrialization. On November 15, 2005, Vimicro was listed on NASDAQ stock exchange in the United States, becoming the first semiconductor company from China that went public in Nasdaq.
